Govt starts granting citizenship under CAA in WB, Haryana, Uttarakhand
Ministry of home affairs on Wednesday announced that the government has started granting citizenship under the CAA in the states of West Bengal, Haryana, and Uttarakhand. According to the ministry's statement, the respective State Empowered Committee granted citizenship to the applicants in these three states on Wednesday. Citizenship Amendment Rules, 2024, notified by the MHA on March 11, have paved the way for the operationalization of the CAA, which was passed by Parliament in 2019.
